HABITAT CONSERVATION
These posts outline and share information on Habitat Conservation issues within Escondido
San Diego is a biodiversity hotspot and home to more plant and animal species than any other county in the contiguous United States. Our wildlife and habitats are rare and precious. Escondido is home to the 3,150 acre Daley Ranch–a significant habitat area that needs management and protection. We work to support the federal North County Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (North County MSCP) and the state Natural Communities Conservation Plan for North County. (NCCP)
In North County the preservation of wildlife corridors will be critical to a successful plan. Sign up for the County’s interested persons list here. If you are interested in working on this issue, email us at EscoIndivisible@gmail.com
Support other local organizations working on habitat protection including, Friends of Daley Ranch, Escondido Neighbors United which has a focus on Felicita Park’s water quality and habitat protection, Escondido Creek Conservancy, San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, and Sierra Club North County Group.
